wifisfuneral, once just a local rap duo from Palm Beach, Florida, Isaiah Rivera (emcee) and Gabe Guerra (DJ) have since become examples of progression entering their fifth project since breaking out in summer 2014. First discovering the pair following the release of a song called “Funeral Service,” their smooth blend of southern flows and dark trippy beats, quickly gained our attention as well as a burgeoning Florida hip hop community.  As time moved on, Isaiah aka “The Light Skinned Trick Daddy” became the frontman for wifi while Gabe found his way behind the turntables onstage.  This formula proved fruitful, making way for consistent releases and elevating their presence among other buzzing Florida names like Robb Banks, Denzel Curry, and Pouya to name a few. wifisfuneral is in the business of killing the internet, as for doing it softly, not so much.

Essential Listens

Early wifisfuneral captivated their audience with unapologetic lyrics of struggles growing up in Palm Beach.  Stories of peer pressure, drugs, sex and fast money are all told over a variety of beats, ranging from high energy party tracks to dark personal songs. wifisfuneral's artistic spectrum seems only matched by their presence on stage, their live show leaving no regrets as well as no one untouched. With “Surrf,” wifi tells us it's customary to flex in light of your hard work as well as those who doubt your efforts, a sentiment truly fused in their brand, not only preserving their relevance but giving them room to grow.

wifi's latest installment, from their own label Rich Life Records, comes in the form of When Hell Falls, one of the group's most introspective records to date.  Here we find an older Isaiah getting a grip on fame and learning about humility and the growing pains associated with both.  The project totes features from Danny Towers, HenryDaher, Yung Bans, and Chicago’s own Kembe X, with production from Grimm Doza, HLTR $KLTR, Murda Beatz and others.

With a new record under his belt and in the midst of a tour with Robb Banks, wifisfuneral is in the process of launching themselves right into the middle of a currently buzzing Florida hip hop community. Don't take our word for it, start with When Hell Falls and work back, wifi's versatility will capture you immediately. Hopefully you caught wifi opening up for Banks recently at Bottom Lounge, but if this is your first impression don't worry, we're confident they'll make their way back real soon.
