It's become somewhat commonplace as of late to find local names on big-time local festivals and a summer of wins for Chicago artists continues as Homme was announced Friday as the latest addition to Pitchfork fest, coming up July15-17 in the West Loop's Union Park.
Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart's new age rock-centric duo take the stage on Sunday on the Blue Stage, times to come soon. Homme joins fellow Chicago acts Mick Jenkins, Jeremih, Whitney and BJ The Chicago Kid at the fest and their addition to Pitchfork is just the latest in a slew of names from around the city that have found their way to some of the biggest stages their hometown has to offer. Lollapalooza plays host to Towkio, Smino, Sir The Baptist, Saba and Louis The Child with headlining sets from Vic Mensa and Flosstradamus to boot. Likewise, this weekend's Mamby on the Beach has Ravyn Lenae & Monte Booker on the lineup in addition to Wild Belle and Lupe Fiasco. Things are heating up in Chicago, in more ways than one.
